Meet Kristi

First off, I’m an absolute design junkie and a Colorado native! I’m also a seasoned, accredited architect who is licensed in multiple states and has worked locally and internationally for over 18 years. With a Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Colorado and a Master’s in Architecture from  Illinois Institute of Technology, I have leveraged this foundation to create innovative spaces for my clients. Tactile and thought-provoking details in the design of spaces and experiences inspire me to create my mark on the built environment. It's my passion to use design to create opportunities and to solve problems in unexpected ways for my clients. Just ask my family, friends, and colleagues with whom I’ve traveled the world …many, many hours are spent exploring, celebrating, and interacting with all things design.

Experience

Since 2003 I’ve worked on projects ranging from high-rise residential, mixed-use projects, custom high-end residential homes, and boutique medical environments. Living in Boulder, Chicago, and San Francisco has profoundly impacted how I approach design.  I try to marry the essence of their architecture and their approach to blending city with nature in all that I do.  After nearly ten years as the first and only female partner at JoeArchitect in Denver, I decided in 2021 to start a new career journey in the Vail Valley with my family.  We love the pace, beauty, and tight-knit community this area offers (not to mention there is no shortage of design to appreciate).

Traveling has been the primary source of inspiration and guidance for my overall design philosophy. We have an eclectic approach to design here.  I love the materiality of Scandinavian spaces, the vibrancy and color of Mexico City, the integration with nature that you experience in Portugal, and everything mid-century modern. With that said, the discovery that comes out of the client/architect collaboration fuels me, and ultimately, it is the long-lasting relationships built that drive my love for what I do. LVKA is excited to work on commercial and residential projects ranging from renovations/additions to ground-up buildings. We call the Vail Valley home, and from here, we work all over North America.
